Message from Congressman Ed Case

Cambodian Community of Hawaii
Khmer New Year
April 15, 2006

It is my great pleasure to extend my warmest aloha and best wishes to all who have gathered here to celebrate the Cambodian Community of Hawaii’s Khmer New Year at Puuhale Elementary School. I also extend my congratulations to President Savouth Richard Chea and the staff and members of the Cambodian Community of Hawaii for another year of accomplishment.

The Khmer New Year celebration embraces the rich centuries-old tradition of Cambodians including Buddhist ceremonies, blessing of the audience, folk dances, traditional music, and much more. This opportunity gathers our Cambodian community together to perpetuate the culture of your homeland and foster pride and further achievement.

Our Hawaii grateful that, as one strand of the fabric of our multi-ethnic community, you are keeping the Cambodian traditions alive for our community and future generations. Your dedication creates the foundation of a better society for all.

Mahalo to all members who worked hard for the success of Khmer New Year celebration. May the new year bring you peace, good health, and good fortune!

With aloha,

United States Congressman
Hawaii, Second District
