Message from Governor Linda Lingle
and
Lt. Governor James R. "Duke" Aiona, Jr.
presented to

THE CAMBODIAN
COMMUNITY OF HAWAI'I
2009 KHMER NEW YEAR

Although few in number, the Cambodian Community is a vital part of the multicultural fabric of Hawai'i. Representing a wide variety of professions, Hawai'i's Khmer contribute their unique talents, ideas and perspectives to our island state.

Cambodians are heir to a rich history and an ancient culture of skilled artisans, musicians, farmers, architects and warriors. In more recent history, Cambodians have had to overcome unfathomable atrocities in their homeland, but have emerged a stronger people, with a bright-burning spirit and a renewed sense of purpose

We are pleased to have Cambodians and Cambodian-Americans as part of our 'ohana, and offer our best wishes for a very happy Khmer New Year. May you find continued success, prosperity and happiness in the future.

Aloha,

Linda Lingle
Governor, State of Hawai'i

James R. "Duke" Aiona, Jr.
Lieutenant Governor, State of Hawai'i
